UNIFORMS

FUNDED

In Uganda, a uniform is something that is treasured. It gives identity to a school and self confidence to the students who wear them. At our Mbarara campus we have had the same uniform for 3 years.  We are currently in process of providing a new one there as well as a first one to our four other campus locations. Each new uniform is just $10. We need hundreds of them to cover our 1000+ children.

Kyasenya Kitchen and Bathrooms

BATHROOMS FUNDED

We currently are fundraising to provide a kitchen to the children of Kyasenya, one of the newest PCM schools. This school was recently purchased after the donations of two individuals.  School started here in this remote rural vilage in September 2011.  We are now raising funds to feed the children from a kitchen and finish their bathrooms.

Creating the Future for PCM at Katyazo

God has done some amazing things over the past 3 years.  Through the help of many people who have come alongside this ministry, God has provided clean water, transportation, comfortable beds, plentiful food, new classrooms, new schools and most of all parental care and love for over 500 orphans and children.  We are in awe of the ways God has worked and through his promise that “my God will meet all your needs through his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”  Phil 4:19

Now we are at the beginning of another leap of faith.  We have been able to educate and disciple children up through all the primary grades, but because of lack of room we have no means to continue the education of those children advancing to secondary school.  With the incredible blessing of 68 acres of land, we have been given the space to continue the work that He has started in Mbarara.

However, it is going to take faith and sacrifice by brothers and sisters in Uganda as well as those of us in the US and UK.  We have a vision to build blocks of classrooms, multiple dormitories, a church, soccer fields, a community health clinic and guest housing on our new land.  Our first phase at Katyazo will take three years to complete the necessary dormitories and classrooms.

Three Year Plan

Our hope is to build two classrooms and two dormitories each year so that we can move two grades of students each January to this new land.  At the end of 3 years we plan to have all six grades of our secondary school complete.  The cost of building our secondary school will be $250,000.

“You were not only the first to give but also had the desire to do so.  Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.”  2 Corinthians 8:11

You can help us reach this goal in a variety of ways:

1. Acres for Orphans – You have the opportunity to own land in Uganda by helping us pay for the 68 acres we are purchasing.  Because of a generous matching donor, you can purchase an acre of land for only $1,000.  Words cannot describe how beautiful and anointed this land is and what a blessing it will be to many children for generations to come.

2.  Farm Friends – Presently we have two banana plantations, a 15 acre farm growing our own food, 2 tilapia ponds, along with cows, chickens and goats.  A gift of $2500 will help maintain this land and these animals that the Lord has provided.

3. Brick Buddies – PCM now has our very own brick machine and it is going to take a lot of bricks to build our new school.  A donation of $5,000 will buy the materials necessary to produce enough high quality bricks to complete an entire dorm or classroom.

4. Classroom Creators –We will have many students on this new land and that means many classrooms as well.  A donation of $10,000 puts a new classroom well on its way to reality and will help us bring another entire grade of students to our school.

5. Where It’s Needed Most- It’s not hard to imagine the variety of needs that can arise with hundreds of children, dozens of pastors, multiple school locations, a couple of banana plantations, and a big farm.  We love when supporters give and allow us to use it where we need it most.

Deuteronomy 26:9 He brought us to this place and gave us this land flowing with milk and honey!

Rwemikoma Well

A need that we have had for a long time has been a well at our second school in Rwemikoma.  However, with a visit by our last team and what they were able to see this need has gone to the top of our list.  Our 200 children there are only getting small amounts of water each day.  The reason is because their water source is 10 miles away.  You can see here that they send someone to fill up these Jerry cans and bring them back to the school.  It is not like our water faucets where we can turn them on and we have as much water as we could ever want. When they run out of water for the day they have to wait for someone else to make the 20 mile round trip.  We are excited to say that we just had a geologist test the ground there and we will be able to dig a well.  The cost of the well will be $9,500.  Please pray with us that God will give us the provision to provide this much needed resource for them.  March 2011 - We received the funds needed for the well, but unfortunately when we drilled there was no water to be found.  The children at Rwemikoma were very sad but continued to rely on God for provision.  Thankfully that provision has come in a couple of different ways:

First, after hearing about the well being dry a Sunday School class also learned about the need for food at this school.  So, they were able to raise over $11,000 just in their class to pay for lunch every day for the children for the rest of this year.

Second, we have been able to purchase some water purification units that will give us an opportunity to give the children clean water at school as well as some to bring home.  We will still have to bring the water in, but we have added another water boy to help get more water.

The children at Rwemikoma will be drinking purified water soon.  God is faithful even when it's not quite how we think he's going to answer a prayer!

School Desks

FUNDED

One thing out of a hundred that we take for granted at our schools in the US is the fact that all our kids have desks. We have a huge need for desks at all three of our schools in Uganda though. Many of the children either kneel on the floor and use their bench to write on or they just put their paper on the floor. It is very humbling to watch. With the help of Pastor Charles, Brad Blacketer, and several Ugandans we have been able to build more desks. However, there is still a big need to build more and pay for the ones we have built

Christmas Projects 2010----

Ministry Christmas Wish

FUNDED

This project is now complete with our new four wheel drive vehicle purchase

Check out our ministry Land Cruiser.  Never again shall we get stuck in the village mud.  Here we come pastors to all of your churches. Jan 2011

Our Christmas wish this season is a new four wheel drive vehicle for the ministry.  Our Miracle Van is getting a bit old and needs to start staying on the real roads from this point forward on off the dirt trails.  Recently it got stuck in the mud taking Pastor Emmy to preach. Our prayer is a new vehicle we can use to accommodate larger teams and to use exclusively in the village for visiting our 43 rural pastors.  Keep praying. Total estimated cost $22,000. (We are thankful for the gifts so far...about $4000 as of 12/20/10)

TILAPIA PROJECT

FUNDED

  • The Tilapia Project. We are partnering with local marine biologist Bill Kirby and hydrogeologist Les Jeske to grow fish for our orphan and needy children. The program is ready to start the digging process this first week of November. Our goal is for the fish to feed the kids and the kids to feed the fish in a cycle that keeps repeating itself. We will eat all we can and sell the rest. Praise God for this opportunity to increase the protein in our children's diet.                                                                                                We had a successful kickoff event on November 9th.  We raised $2500 in one hour. The project is still ongoing at Potpourri House.  We will continue until 200 vouchers are sold. Praise God for this provision.  It has been amazing to watch and we are just one day in to the process.   (there will be an open house at Neisha Rudd's Today's Vision on Saturday December 4th from 9am-230pm.  Come check out the new eyewear and hear the latest from hydrogeologist Les Jeske talking about the PCM Tilapia Pond.)  Pond #1 is nearly complete. We are buying the fish this week 12/20/10 and the men will begin digging pond #2 in late december /early Jan 2011.       .
  • Phone/ Laptop Project.  Do you have a smartphone or a laptop that is in good condition but is not needed anymore?  We have many pastors and teachers who could benefit greatly from a phone or a laptop.  Believe it or not, there is actually good cell phone reception in Uganda.  Many of these third world countries have realized that it is much easier to put up cell phone towers than to try to run phone lines to houses.  So, you can be in the middle of nowhere walking through a banana plantation and have perfect cell phone reception!  However, most of these pastors and teachers do not have electricity in their homes so they will need phones and computers that have a good battery life.  If you have a phone or a laptop that you think would be in good enough shape to give please contact us at justin@pcmonline.org.  We would love to have used iphones to give to them, but we will take any good quality phones with chargers.  We still would love to bring two laptops with us for trip #8 on Dec 28th.  If you know of anyone who has a functional one they are not using please let us know. (Nov 18, 2010) We are thankful for our first two iphone donations.  The batteries on these 2G and 3G phones make a world of difference than the phones that are normally available in Ugand
  • Buy a Pastor a Bike
    • FUNDED
    • For just $100 USD you can donate the funds to provide a bike for a rural Ugandan pastor.  You may not realize, but a bike is an incredible blessing in Uganda.  You can carry almost anything on it....food (bananas                                                                                                                                  people, church pews, worship drums, mattress frames......you name it, it can be done. What is most common are the 5 gallon yellow jerrycan containers filled with water. Some of the pastors are walking miles just to draw water for their family and walking back with it. A bike makes this trek so much easier.  About 14 of our 43 pastors could use a bike. Here is our first Pastor to receive a bike.  Pastor David. Look at the joy on his face.      Here is Pastor George with his new bike given in April of 2010. He said it would greatly improve his ability to preach the Gospel throughtout rural Uganda.

  • Hearts for Change Jan 2010:
Last year Grace Community School became involved with a school and an orphanage in Mbarara, Uganda. Some of our staff has visited, our students have sent letters, we helped finance a well for desperately needed clean water, and first graders provided pillows. At chapel on January 12, we kicked off our "Hearts for Change" effort. Through Valentine's Day we will deposit spare change in special containers in the lunchroom to help towards the $5,000.00 needed to build a new classroom. You can see the same exciting video we watched in chapel at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgzPtfpG7x8 . We are excited to see what the Lord does.   "…My heart is changed within me; all my compassion is aroused." Hosea 11:8 We are pleased to announce the full funding of this project.  Construction is nearly complete as of March 2010 for the P6 classroom. Praise God for all those who contributed a nickel or many nickels.
  • Christmas Project 2009   Our 2009 Christmas project is for a truck for use in our ministry like this one. The main three purposes of this vehicle will be:
    1. To carry Gospel equipment (generator, projector, Jesus film, speakers) to rural areas for evangelism. This will allow all the pastors a chance to reach those in very remote areas. Never before have they had such Gospel equipment.
    2. We will be able to purchase food directly from the village farmers and transport to school (saving us 30% on food). This will also allow for a diet rich in vegetables and other fruits instead of just potatoes, bananas and beans. The truck will nearly pay for itself in cost savings in about 1 year.
    3. It will also help us transport construction materials to our site for help completing all the projects at our site.  Our fundraising goal for this entire project this year is $25000. Our God is so good.  He has provided our own truck, "The Happy Little Dump Truck."  Thank you for all of those who gave to our 2009 Christmas Project. It is already being used to help the orphan children and to spread the Good News. 12/25/09
  • Christmas Pillow Project  We are providing all of our 204 PCM boarder orphan children with a pillow.  They have never had one.  We already have made 200+ hand made personalized pillowcases and we will be purchasing a pillow in Mbarara on our arrival in December. Total need for project is $1250.  For just $5 you can give an orphan a pillow for Christmas.  Give as many as you would like!!                          Word cannot describe the joy we experienced being there Christmas 2009 passing out these gifts.  THANK YOU SEWING ANGELS!!

  • PCM "Abias" Bath House Project. Click here to see the video.  What clearly is the biggest need are the bath houses for the orphans. The orphans currently bathe on bricks surrounded by papyrus mats and metal that are falling apart. They are grateful for the clean water to use but what we need is a girl's house and a boy's house made of cement. The bath houses are well under construction and will be completed soon thanks from the gifts from many.  As of 11/16/09 this project is now closed.  Wahoo!!!!

  • Water Erosion Trench.       A large trench was formed last fall running down the middle of our land separating 1/2 of the property. It is a huge danger to the children from falling in and breaking their arms or legs. The erosion is close to coming under our current kitchen and comprising that building.  Though there is no rain (we have faith though it is coming), we need to fix it now to keep the ditch from getting deeper and being a bigger threat. Help us fix this trench now. We have successfully purchased a drain and are in the process of installing it now. Total remaining need $5000 USD

  • ROBERT's Well project.    The well is complete. Clean water is providing a huge improvement to the quality of life of these Ugandan children.   Pastor Emmy's nephew, Robert Mukwaya, died drawing water for these children. He fell in the swift current in November of 2008, was unable to swim and drowned. The well is named in his honor...Robert's Well. It has been drawing water strong since February 2009. This project is completed.

  • ESTHER BLANKET project. The blanket project is complete. Each of the 204 boarder orphans has received a nice quality blanket to sleep with this August 2009. What a blessing.  Thank you Jeske family.

  • IVAN SHOE Project. Under the leadership of the Lola's (a women's group in Tyler Texas)  over $400 was raised in Decmeber of 2008 to cover the cost for shoes for all of the ophans who currently have no shoes at all. What a huge blessing. The shoes were purchased and given to the orphans. This means now that every child will have at least one pair of shoes.
