Omwana Update 2018

Written by: Heather Allen, PCM Omwana Coordinator

In 2015 the dream of having a home for orphaned and abandoned babies became a reality. A beautiful home, nestled amongst a banana plantation, planted for future generations, was now a place of refuge and hope.

Our first little guy to find refuge at Omwana House was Rowan. A sweet and gentle-spirited little boy who enjoyed observing from afar has now matured beautifully and is attending Mbarara Primary School, still calling Omwana House home.

After Rowan, Sweet little smiling Sheri joined the family. Then came our head-boy and leader Arnold.

Next came our first set of twins, Kato & Nyangoma and our little overcomer, Shakidah.

All of which are now attending Mbarara Primary, with Rowan.

This first year, we were also blessed by your support to build a bathhouse with a washroom.

In 2016, we began to grow even more! Brothers, Lawrence and Jeremiah joined the family.

After receiving a call from the hospital, precious Joel came.

Our second set of twins Kakuru Jotham and Kato Jethro joined at just a few days old. Now, they are so full of personality and joy.

Lastly, baby Lawrence Joseph joined the family after being rescued.

With this influx of precious baby boys, our house was now full.

By the end of the 2016, we started making plans to build our second cottage to make room for the others to come.

Once again, you stepped up to the plate and made it possible to start construction of the new cottage in 2017, as well as provide a milk cow so the children would have a healthy balanced diet.

We want to say thank you to our sponsors, comforters, and to Serving Orphans Worldwide for partnering with us to provide such a safe and loving home for these precious children. You have made it possible.

I’ll never forget walking up to the house for the first time.

Listening to Rodgers (Pastor Emmy’s son) say, “This plantation was planted years ago for future generations.” It brought tears of joy to my eyes to think about the privilege the Lord has given us to witness this generation, growing up here in this beautiful place, a future generation for God’s glory.

Dream BIG with us as we look forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for Omwana House in 2018!

Joyfully,

Heather “Mama Omwana”
